Observation of ‘World No Tobacco Day’ 2025 - Unmasking the appeal

On 31st May 2025, NGO observed from Kalyan Railway Station (West) - World No Tobacco Day 2025 Campaign=>“Unmasking the Appeal=>Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products.” This year, the campaign focused on revealing the tactics that the Tobacco and Nicotine industries use to make their harmful products seem attractive to raise awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco use and to promote healthier lifestyles. The event saw enthusiastic participation from the local community to target for college going students & youth groups for Free Oral Cancer Screening. A dedicated team of healthcare professionals—including doctors, nurses, and counsellors—offered free health check-ups, including blood pressure monitoring at 10 am. to 2 pm. Oral check up and counselling sessions with several people by Dr. Pratik Bhoir. A total of 121 people undergo oral and general check up. Out of them 96 were males and 25 were females. Free medicines were distributed to the people. The screening camp was conducted by Dr. Bhumika Giri. The checkup Result as below ; Leukoplakia = 33, Gingivitis = 3, Ulcer = 57, and Normal = 28 Informative pamphlets highlighting the dangers of tobacco addiction were distributed, reinforcing the core message of the day=>“Tobacco Kills – Quit Before It's Too Late’. The health camp served as a powerful reminder of the urgent need to combat tobacco use and support those striving to lead tobacco-free lives.
